At Southern Cross Medical Centre we are committed to offering our patients a comprehensive range of primary care services. Our experienced doctors have a broad spectrum of medical skills and interests, and they are very well supported by a team of nurses and allied health practitioners.
Our practice's origins go back to 1978. The practice started with one doctor in Somerville Road that year and has grown steadily since. In 1990 we moved to our current location and took on the name Southern Cross Medical Centre.
The number of doctors and the types of facilities and services at the practice has progressively increased over time. These days Southern Cross Medical Centre is an integral part of the Hampton Park community — and importantly, we are open every day of the year.

Known for excellence in GP training. Many of our current doctors chose to return after training with us in the registrar program.

Dr Gayle Troedson
Graduated from Queensland University and has been a long-term doctor with Southern Cross Medical Group. Broad range of interests in general practice and enjoys meeting patients of all ages and backgrounds.
Dr Bryan Winthrope
Interested in all areas of family medicine with particular interest in skin conditions, mental health, chronic disease and travel medicine. In general practice for over thirty years, most of those at Southern Cross Medical Centre.
Dr Paul Sandhu
In general practice in Hampton Park since 1997, with a Medical Certificate from the Australian College of Skin Cancer. Interested in paediatrics, skin issues, women's contraceptive health, WorkCover/TAC and musculoskeletal injuries. Medical Educator for EVGPT since 2011.
Dr Cheryl Skadiang
Studied medicine at Monash University, graduating in 2007, and worked across Monash Health and Gippsland before pursuing general practice. Enjoys preventative care, mental health and women's health.
Dr Chaw "Su" Htwe
Joined Southern Cross Medical Group in 2010. Fluent in Burmese with a special interest in women's health. A shared care GP offering antenatal care with Monash Women's (Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong and Casey hospitals).
Dr Christine Won
Graduated with honours from Monash University in 1996, completing her internship and residency at Box Hill Hospital and The Royal Children's Hospital. Over 20 years at Southern Cross Medical Centre with an interest in women's, adolescent and children's health as well as mental health.
Dr Timothy Voon
Graduated from Monash University in 1997 with internship and residency at Dandenong District, Sandringham and The Royal Children's hospitals. Over 20 years at the clinic with an interest in chronic medical conditions, geriatric and family medicine.
Dr Jacob Dessauer
Graduated from Melbourne University in 1982 and joined the group in 1987. Interests in child and adolescent health, doctors' health and medical education. An accredited supervisor of GP trainees since 1996.

A special interest in aged care, and part of the Southern Cross Medical Centre team for 13 years.
Dr Monique Ishak
Graduated from the University of Notre Dame in Perth before returning to Melbourne. Over 8 years of hospital experience including 5 years in paediatric medicine, with a strong interest in paediatrics and women's health.
Dr Srabonti Hazra
An International Medical Graduate from India who worked in Victorian public hospitals from 2013, obtaining her Fellowship in 2019. Fluent in Hindi and Bengali, with a focus on women's health, shared antenatal care and preventative medicine.
Dr Ashwin Sharma
Graduated from Monash University in 2016 and worked at Monash Health for several years, obtaining his fellowship in general practice in 2023. Interested in all aspects of health and general practice.
Dr Paramjeet Singh
Graduated from the University of Queensland in 2020 and worked at large tertiary hospitals in Brisbane and Melbourne before joining Southern Cross Medical Centre.
Dr Isabelle Gill
Graduated from Flinders University in 2020, completing her internship at Flinders Medical Centre before relocating to Melbourne to work with Monash Health. A broad interest in all areas of general practice, providing care across all stages of life.

Nisha Pattani
Over 18 years' experience, with a certificate in orthopaedic manual therapy from Curtin University and a Graduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy from La Trobe University.
Vanesa Ogues
Nursing since 2003 across St Vincent's Private Hospital, Royal District Nursing Service and community diabetes education. Supports clients to be proactive in managing their diabetes.
Barbara Mitchell
Over 45 years' experience in diabetes, cardiovascular nutrition, gastrointestinal nutrition and weight management, educating patients across all life stages.
Ana Paula Schaper
Over 25 years across adult and aged mental health, schools, child, youth and family health and disability services, with specialist training in family therapy. Bookings direct on 0417 792 443.
Andrew Plewa

Our nurses & reception team
Our experienced practice nurses support our doctors with immunisations, wound care, health assessments, care plans and treatment-room procedures, while our reception team is here to help with appointments, results and enquiries.
Privacy policy and how we handle your information.
This privacy policy provides information to you, our patient, on how your personal information (which includes your health information) is collected and used within our practice, and the circumstances in which we may share it with third parties.
Why and when your consent is necessary
When you register as a patient of our practice, you provide consent for our GPs and practice staff to access and use your personal information so they can provide you with the best possible healthcare. Only staff who need to see your personal information will have access to it. If we need to use your information for anything else, we will seek additional consent from you.
Why we collect, use, hold and share your personal information
Our practice needs to collect your personal information to provide healthcare services to you. Our main purpose is to manage your health. We also use it for directly related business activities, such as financial claims and payments, practice audits and accreditation, and business processes such as staff training.
Dealing with us anonymously
You have the right to deal with us anonymously or under a pseudonym unless it is impracticable for us to do so, or unless we are required or authorised by law to only deal with identified individuals.
How we collect your personal information
When you make your first appointment our staff collect your personal and demographic information via your registration, and further information may be collected during the course of your care. We may also collect information when you visit our website, email or SMS us, telephone us, book online or contact us on social media. In some circumstances information is collected from your guardian or responsible person, other healthcare providers, your health fund, Medicare or the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
When, why and with whom we share your personal information
We sometimes share your information with third parties who work with our practice for business purposes (who must comply with the Australian Privacy Principles), with other healthcare providers, when required or authorised by law, when necessary to lessen or prevent a serious threat to life, health or safety, to assist in locating a missing person, to establish or defend an equitable claim, for confidential dispute resolution, where there is a statutory requirement such as mandatory disease notification, and through eTP and My Health Record. We will not share your information overseas or use it for direct marketing without your consent.
How we store and protect your personal information
Your personal information may be held as electronic records, paper records and occasionally visual records such as photos and x-rays. All personal information is stored securely in password-protected information systems, or in hard copy in a secure environment.
Accessing and correcting your personal information
You have the right to request access to, and correction of, your personal information. Requests for access to your medical record must be made in writing and we will respond within a reasonable time frame of 30 days. An administrative fee of $50 applies for compiling the medical record. Requests to correct or update your information should also be made in writing to the Practice Manager at Southern Cross Medical Group.
Privacy-related complaints
We take privacy concerns seriously. Please put any concerns in writing to The Practice Manager, Southern Cross Medical Group, Suite 6, 36–40 Stuart Ave, Hampton Park VIC 3976, phone (03) 9799 2233. We will respond within a reasonable time frame of 30 days. You may also contact the OAIC at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
